Mai Chau is a peaceful valley embraced by lush forests, emerald rice fields, and traditional stilt houses of the White Thai ethnic group. Known for its quiet charm and warm hospitality, it’s an ideal place to stroll, cycle, and immerse yourself in authentic village life. 07:30 – Depart from 17 Cầu Gỗ Street in Hanoi’s Old Quarter. Leaving the bustling city behind, the road gradually climbs to nearly 800 meters, winding through dramatic mountain passes and rocky landscapes. Along the way, enjoy stunning views of rice fields tucked deep in the valleys below before descending into the serene Mai Chau Valley. 10:30 – Arrive in Mai Chau, where friendly hosts greet you with warmth, inviting you to discover their unique customs and traditions.
11:00 – After a short tour briefing, begin cycling through the rice fields and small village lanes on the way to Na Phon Village. Here, you’ll visit a weaving workshop to explore the traditional craft of the White Thai ethnic group. Under the guidance of a local Thai woman, you’ll learn age-old techniques of weaving, dyeing, and embroidery, and even join a hands-on natural dyeing workshop. The piece you create will be yours to keep – a meaningful souvenir of your time with the artisans. Light snacks will be served during the session. The workshop takes place at the Hoa Ban Social Protecting Center, established in 2008 to support disadvantaged and disabled women while preserving the weaving heritage of the White Thai. As part of the “Keep It Beautiful Vietnam” project, the center not only empowers local women and girls but also promotes sustainable, high-quality textile products with strong environmental and social values.
13:30 – Return to the homestay and enjoy a delicious lunch featuring Mai Chau specialties lovingly prepared by your host family. In the afternoon, set off on a leisurely cycling trip through the valley. Depending on the weather and your preference, your local guide will recommend the most suitable routes. Each trail winds through peaceful villages, lush rice paddies, and fertile farmlands. Along the way, you’re free to stop anytime — whether to capture stunning photos of nature, soak in the tranquil countryside, or simply exchange a smile and a warm greeting with the friendly villagers.
16:00. We’ll go back to your homestay and have tea before saying goodbye to your host, then head back to Hanoi and arrive at around 19:30. End of the trip.
